In the walls of Jericho lived a woman named Rahab. She was known as a prostitute and a Canaanite ; who were enemies of Israel. God loved Rahab as he loves you.
Her story is one of extraordinary faith and courage and of Gods divine grace.
God's love knows no boundaries.
As the Israelites, led by Joshua, prepared to conquer Jericho, Rahab knew that this battle would destroy her home and the lives of her and her family.
She was desperate to protect her family , so she lied to the Kings men , hid the Israelite soldiers on her roof and pleaded for her families lives to be spared.
"Now then, please swear to me by the LORD that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death." - Joshua 2:9-13 (NIV)
The spies agreed, instructing Rahab to hang a scarlet cord from her window so the army knew where and who not to attack. This scarlet cord, like the blood of Jesus was her protection and salvation. True to their word, when Jericho fell, Rahab and her family were spared.
Rahab's story and courageous life decisions led to a transformation in her life and in her faith.
Rahab's lineage led to Jesus Christ.
The book of Hebrews honors her faith:
"By faith Rahab..." - Hebrews 11:31
Rahab's story is a powerful testament to the grace of God. It reminds us that no matter our past, God’s grace is sufficient to transform our lives.
Jesus came for those willing to place their faith and trust in Him, no matter how our life may appear.
If you have ever doubted God's ability to change your life, read the story in the Bible of Rahab. Her faith, despite her background, brought protection, salvation and a new life path.
God’s grace is available to you and to everyone.
Never give up on His grace for you, and for those you are praying for.
With love,
Linda
